On 22nd of September we went to visit Cork City Gaol, an ancient prison of the 19th century.
It is located near Patrick’s Street and is a magnificent gray castle and is surrounded by many trees and fields.
When we arrived the guide gave us a map which explained the everyday life of the prisoners and the main rooms.
It was interesting, because it was realistic and affascinating.
We saw the prisoners’ cells, the garden, the chapel, the prison’s guardian room, the torture room and some cells of famous people. Some of them even had some original graffiti left by some prisoners in 1920’s.
We took a lot of pictures and we enjoyed the time together.
After the tour we had a walk in one of the main Cork parks: Fitzgerald park.
The park is crossed by the river lee and it is full of beautiful trees, colourful flowers and even some ponds with friendly ducks!!😃
This park is full of students because is located near the University College of Cork (UCC) and we suggest to visit the museum of Cork that is situated at the beginnings of the park.
Here are some photos of us, pur firends and the places we visited.
